NB-IoT testbed with more than 100 custom-designed NB-IoT devices is being set up at ICONIC centre in collaboration with a mobile operator in Serbia. The devices will log large amount of data related to NB-IoT module communication, radio conditions and energy consumption. ICONIC centre Information Processing group lead by Dr Tatjana Loncar-Turukalo teamed with researchers from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Novi Sad have obtained funding by European Commission in H2020 Research and Innovation call AI for Health Imaging (DT-TDS-05-2020). Through this call EC invests €35 million to support the development of analysis of health images for cancer diagnostics based on Artificial Intelligence. The 42 months INCISIVE project (A multimodal AI-based toolbox and an interoperable health imaging repository for the empowerment of imaging analysis related to the diagnosis, prediction and follow-up of cancer) has been granted almost €10 million to develop and validate: (1) an AI-based toolbox that enhances the accuracy, specificity, sensitivity, interpretability and cost-effectiveness of existing cancer imaging methods, (2) an automated-ML based annotation mechanism to rapidly produce training data for machine learning research and (3) a pan- European repository federated repository of medical images. Within the project lifetime INCISIVE solution will be investigated in three validation studies for lung, breast and colorectal cancer, taking place in 8 sites, from 5 countries (Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Serbia and Spain), with participation of at least 2000 patients and a total duration of 1.5 year.

The city council of Novi Sad organized an event Smart City 2020 devoted to ICT technologies that have a potential to smartify city services in the future. The city council is in the process of creating a Smart City strategy for the following years and the event served as a venue to gather stakeholders in all areas related to Smart City technologies. The event started by a keynote speech delivered by Prof. Dejan Vukobratovic of ICONIC centre. The lecture is available on the following link.

Kick-off meeting of H2020 project INCOMING (Innovation and excellence in massive scale communications and signal processing) took place at the Coordinator institution University of Novi Sad. The meeting gathered researchers from partner institutions: Aalborg University, Chalmers University of Technology and German Aerospace Centre (DLR) to discuss future project activities.
The project meeting was adjoined with a workshop-like event called Brainstorming Week. The event agenda included a large number of high-quality presentations of project participants, fostering discussion and future collaboration within the project (KO-meeting-BW-agenda-Jan-2020).
